Lords Conduct Committee publishes report into the conduct of Lord Pendry
Thursday 7 April 2022
The House of Lords Conduct Committee has today recommended Lord Pendry be suspended from the House for one week for breaching the Code of Conduct in relation to behaviour that constituted bullying against a member of security staff in the Parliamentary Security Department.
The Committee’s report follows a complaint made regarding Lord Pendry’s behaviour by a Parliamentary Security Officer. The investigation was undertaken by Akbar Khan, one of the two independent House of Lords Commissioners for Standards.
The House will be asked to agree the report and sanction early in the new session. Under Standing Order 68, members cannot debate the report or sanction, but can vote on whether or not to approve them.
