Lords committee hears from electricity distribution network

The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee continues its inquiry into the energy grid and grid connections by hearing from Northern Powergrid and UK Power Networks.
The session will run from 10.30am on Tuesday 4 February and can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster.
The Committee will hear from:
- Jim Cardwell, Head of Energy Systems Policy, Northern Powergrid
- Mark Adolphus, Director of Connections, UK Power Networks
Possible topics include:
- the National Energy System Operator’s proposals to reform the connections queue;
- barriers to delivering network infrastructure caused by the planning and consenting system;
- incentives to encourage generation and energy demand to locate closer to one another;
- capacity utilisation of distribution networks;
- Ofgem’s price controls;
