Lords energy grid inquiry hears from National Energy System Operator

The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee continues its inquiry into the energy grid and grid connections by hearing from representatives from the National Energy System Operator (NESO).

The session will run from 10.30am on Tuesday 11 March and can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster.

Giving evidence will be:

  • Kayte O’Neill, Chief Operating Officer, National Energy System Operator;
  • Matt Vickers, Director of Connections Reform, National Energy System Operator;
  • James Norman, Head of Connections Strategy, National Energy System Operator.

Possible topics include:

  • the role of the National Energy System Operator;

  • the delivery of energy network infrastructure to meet the clean power target;

  • proposals to reform the connections queue;

  • community incentives and benefits to enable grid expansions;

  • Regional Energy Strategic Plans;

  • the roles and responsibilities of Ofgem, NESO and the Government in relation to energy networks.
