Lords nitrogen inquiry hears from fertiliser industry and shipping experts

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee continues its inquiry into the efficient use and management of reactive nitrogen by hearing from experts from the fertilizer and shipping industries.
The session will start at 10am on Wednesday 19 March in Committee Room 4, Palace of Westminster and can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV.
Giving evidence at 10am from the fertilizer industry will be:
- Vicky Robinson, Head of Sustainability, Agriculture Industries Confederation
- Lord John Fuller OBE, Chairman, Brineflow Ltd.
- Mr Pawel Kisielewski, CEO, CCm Technologies.
Members are expected to ask questions on:
- the use of synthetic and organic fertilisers in the UK;
- technologies to increase the reuse and sustainable application of organic fertilizers;
- green ammonia in the agricultural sector;
Giving evidence at 10.50am from the shipping industry will be:
- Dr James Kershaw,Scientific Officer, Opportunity Green;
- Trevor Brown, Executive Director, Ammonia Energy Association;
- Andrew Hoare, Head of Marine Systems and Green Shipping, Fortescue.
Members are expected to ask questions on:
- sources of nitrogen emissions across the ammonia supply chain,
- ammonia as a fuel for shipping,
- reducing the risk of ‘pollution swapping’ in the shipping industry.
