Social mobility inquiry focusses on employer initiatives

The House of Lords Social Mobility Policy Committee continues its inquiry on Thursday 27 March by hearing from employers from the professional services, utilities, housing and care sectors who promote social mobility.
The session begins at 10.05am and can be watched live or afterwards on Parliament TV.
Giving evidence will be:
- Neil Morrison, Director of Human Resources at Severn Trent;
- Jo Fry, Group HR Director at Mears Group;
- Tom Lyas, Head of Resourcing & Social Mobility at Browne Jacobson LLP.
Members are expected to ask questions on:
- the roles of employers in relation to social mobility;
- social mobility recruitment strategies;
- apprenticeships;
- staff development programmes;
- measuring and evaluating the impact of social mobility initiatives;
- engaging with young people not in education, employment or training;
- local partnerships;
- removing barriers to social mobility.
