Lords nitrogen inquiry hears from the Environment Agency and Ofwat

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee continues its inquiry into the efficient use and management of reactive nitrogen in water and agriculture by hearing from the Environment Agency and the water regulator, Ofwat.
The session will start at 10am on Wednesday 7 May in Committee Room 4, Palace of Westminster and can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV.
Giving evidence will be:
- Helen Wakeham, Director for Water, Environment Agency;
- Jennie Donovan, Co-Director for Nature & Place, Environment Agency;
- Paul Hickey, Managing Director of RAPID, Ofwat;
- Chris Walters, Senior Director for the Price Review, Ofwat.
Members are likely to ask questions on:
- Nitrogen pollution management;
- monitoring emissions across the wastewater process;
- water company investment in nutrient recovery technologies;
- environmental regulations for farming;
- agricultural emissions of ammonia and nitrous oxide to air;
- planning and air quality.
