Lords 'tidies up' National Insurance bill

The National Insurance Contributions (Secondary Class 1 Contributions) Bill had its third reading, a chance for members to make sure the eventual law is effective, workable and without loopholes, on Tuesday 4 March.
The National Insurance Contributions (Secondary Class 1 Contributions) Bill will implement the new rates of national insurance contributions announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the 2024 Autumn Budget.
Third reading
Third reading is a chance for members to ‘tidy up' a bill, making small changes to ensure it is effective.
One amendment (change) was put forward ahead of third reading to make the legislation applicable to certain parallel services in Scotland. The change was agreed to by members.
