Lords concludes scrutiny of product regulation bill
13 March 2025
The Product Regulation and Metrology Bill had its third reading, a chance for members to make sure the eventual law is effective, workable and without loopholes, on Wednesday 12 March.
The Product Regulation and Metrology Bill will update existing measures relating to the marketing, quantities and measurements of products sold in the UK in order to better protect consumers, deliver economic growth and ensure fair business practice among online and high street retailers.
Final checks
Third reading is the chance for members to ‘tidy up' a bill, making small changes to ensure it is effective.
No amendments (changes) were put forward ahead of third reading, so members discussed the progress of the bill at the conclusion of its stages through the House of Lords.
