The Health and Social Care Committee this morning held an evidence session with the Chair of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Ian Dilks, and its Chief Executive, Sir Julian Hartley. 

The Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee, Layla Moran MP, and the Chair of the Committee’s Expert Panel, Professor Dame Jane Dacre, have written to the Health and Social Care Secretary, to inform him that the Expert Panel will be conducting an independent evaluation of the state of palliative care in England.

The Scottish Affairs Committee launches an inquiry examining the pilot Safer Drug Consumption Facility (SDCF) which opens in Glasgow’s East End today.  

The Committee’s letter asks what support will be provided to NHS Trusts that have declared a critical incident, including after the incidents end, to mitigate the impact on elective procedures.

The Health and Social Care Committee has today published the Government’s response to the predecessor committee’s report on Pharmacy and has written back to the Minister of State for Care, Stephen Kinnock, to follow up on particular issues raised in the report and response.

In response to the announcement of a new independent commission on social care, the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee, Layla Moran MP, said:
