MPs debate local government finance

Minister of State for Housing and Local Government, Grant Shapps, moved a motion to approve the Local Government Finance Report 2012-13 in the House of Commons on Wednesday 8 February.
Local Government Finance
The House of Commons approved the Local Government Finance Report (England) 2012-13 after a division (Ayes: 292, Noes: 213). Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government responded on behalf of the Opposition.
The Local Government Finance Report sets out the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government determination for the financial year 2011/12 the amount of grant allocated to each receiving local authority in England.
The Local Government Finance Act 1988 states that the Secretary of State shall determine the grant to local authorities and prepare a report to be laid before the House of Commons.
