Bulletin 15 July 2013

House of Commons Commission bulletin, 15 July 2013

All-Party Parliamentary Groups: Following advice from the Administration Committee, the Commission agreed that APPG staff passes should be withdrawn with effect from 18 July and that this category of pass should not be used in future. The Serjeant at Arms will be writing to those Members who sponsor APPG passes with further details.  (Contact: Lawrence Ward – 3030)

Education Centre: The Commission received a further up-date on plans to deliver a temporary Education Centre for the start of the 2014/15 school year.  The House resolved in June 2007 that there should be a dedicated space for educational visitors. (Contact: John Pullinger – 3635)

Filming and photography: The Commission agreed to facilitate the making of an observational documentary about the work of the House for broadcast in 2014.   Detailed negotiations will now start with one of two documentary film makers identified by the Administration Committee.  The Commission agreed that requests to use the Commons Estate for commercial filming when the House is not sitting should be considered on their merits, and invited the Administration Committee to establish a process for handling such requests. The Commission also noted that the Administration Committee and the Serjeant at Arms would be piloting rationalised photography regulations with Members in the autumn. (Contact: Lawrence Ward – 3030)

Nursery: The Commission took note of the annual report of the Nursery Governance Committee, and agreed that it should be published.  The report indicates that in 2012/13 there was increased usage and lower costs. (Contact: Anne Foster – 1412)
