1.  SAVINGS PROGRAMME: NEXT STAGE

The Commission accepted the recommendations of the Finance and Services Committee regarding the approach to the next stage of the savings programme, including the proposed seven areas of work.  It also agreed

  • that the Finance and Services Committee should develop for the Commission to consider a process designed to ensure that large unexpected items of expenditure are no longer agreed to without consideration of the consequences for the House administration budget; and 
  • that the Finance and Services Committee should compile for the Commission to agree a report on the House's finances and the savings programme, and that time should be sought for a debate in Westminster Hall once initial proposals in the seven areas have been drawn up.
     

2.  DATE OF NEXT MEETING


The next meeting of the Commission/MEC will take place on Monday 21 March at 4.30pm in Speaker's House [subsequently postponed to Tuesday 29 March at 4.30pm].
