Data protection and your privacy
Both Houses of Parliament collect and use personal data of the public, Members, staff, and others in the course of our work.
This allows us to perform our functions, including allowing visitor access, allowing participation in proceedings, and providing services to Members and to staff.
This usage is covered by data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
We take these obligations seriously and accordingly use personal data in such a way that respects your privacy.
Please note that Members of Parliament and Members of the House of Lords who handle personal data are separate controllers under data protection law. For this reason, any queries about their handling of personal data should be directed to the relevant Member themselves.
